THE INSPIRATION
HERITAGE
A child of fashion, Colette was born into a Lebanese family that came to the US in the 1920's and launched a luxury loungewear brand called "Perfect Negligee". As a young girl, Colette spent weekends at her grandparents’ home where she discovered “Grama’s attic”; a room filled with couture accessories, reminiscent of a time of opulence and sublime taste. This was the seed of inspiration that she mixed with her "downtown pop-art” upbringing that led to her individual expression.

THE STORY
MALOUF POUF
Just after graduating from Boston University Colette created the iconic 1980’s accessory, the “Malouf Pouf.” A year later, at the age of 25, she sold 100,000 units, taking over the counters of the all the top retailers in New York: Bergdorf Goodman, Barney’s NY, Bloomingdale's and Henri Bendel. Fast forward, bringing luxury to hair accessories, Colette expanded globally with a focus on Japan and China where a love of the art of hair is an integral part of the culture.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
ARTISTIC WAY
A true New Yorker born, raised and working in SoHo, Colette epitomizes the artists that left their indelible imprints shaping the area as we know it today. Her design philosophy combines the glamour of her family's heritage with the edginess of the art she grew up surrounded by. This is the artistic way she approaches everything.
