Colette was born into a Lebanese family, who settled in New York at the turn of the century. Her grandfather was a pioneer who brought the caftan to the US in the 1920’s and launched ‘Perfect Negligee’, a luxurious line of eveningwear. As a young girl, Colette often spent weekends at her grandparents’ home where she discovered “Grama’s attic”; a room filled with couture accessories, reminiscent of a time of opulence and sublime taste. This was the seed of inspiration that she mixed with her “downtown pop-art” upbringing that lead to her individual expression.
