Colette Malouf is on the board of an NGO called Studio Samuel, an after-school and weekend program that provides life skills to empower adolescent girls to be successful and self-reliant. She has seen the barriers faced by girls living in extreme poverty and has witnessed how change can come about when a few people passionate get together to help others. As a board member of the organization and a strong female entrepreneur, Colette Malouf is passionate about helping young girls around the world realize their potential.
Just over a year ago, Studio Samuel opened the doors to their first training center in Ethiopia. Since then this non-profit has not only grown from 25 students to recently enrolling our 100th girl, they’ve opened a computer training lab, helped two students receive college scholarships and assisted in getting the girls access to healthcare.
The two-year program, Training for Tomorrow, provides healthcare, life skills training, and computer programming classes to prepare girls to stand on their own and help their community. These girls also work to create feminine hygiene kits that are donated to the girls in neighboring villages, ensuring that they don’t have to miss out on school while on their menstrual cycle.
